VP of Merchandising & Operations

We provide a stylist assisted one-to- one shopping service based on your home, style, budget and your needs. Our vision is to apply data-driven design to help people surround themselves with the things that make them happy.

Spruce Up is well funded start-up backed by premier VCs in NYC, Silicon Valley and Seattle and rapidly growing our early start-up team. The VP of Merchandising and Operations is core part of our executive team and will lead all Design & Operations related functions for Spruce Up. S/he is in charge of building and scaling a new end-to- end consumer experience that is customer and needs based and personalized to each home. It starts from curating a catalog of designer-endorsed products from hottest design brands and the best retailers, empowering our stylists to hand-pick well thought-out furniture and décor choices for each customer, and shipping items our members love directly to their door.

This is a role for a seasoned home & design merchandiser who craves entrepreneurial ownership and a fast-paced dynamic environment to operate in. You love being hands-on with “get it done” attitude with ability to scale and manage a large, operations focused organization. You are driven by passion to innovative in the home & design category with ability to bootstrap operations initially while nurturing to scale it to a big business. This role is based in Seattle, WA, San Francisco CA or New York, NY.

Roles and Responsibility

  • Love being hands-on with “get it done” attitude with ability to scale and manage a large, operations focused organization

  • Acquire and manage partnerships with hundreds of leading design brands and retailers and ensure ongoing success in sales and relationship. Drive active co-marketing campaigns to grow and bring together our community of stylists, customers, brands and tastemakers

  • Work with Spruce Up Interior Design Lead to build and maintain high performing stylist teams in various design centers across the US

  • Set up and scale commerce operations including logistics, partner SLA, and customer support


  • Built and executed merchandising selection in the home and design category with track-record in revenue growth while maintaining healthy margin structure. You have an outstanding reputation and relationships with leading home design brands and retailers

  • Demonstrated disciplined, metrics-based approach to managing merchandising pipeline and forecasting sales and commitments

  • Have been part of scaling operations in an e-Commerce or retail environments

  • Ability to hire, mentor and retain talent in a rapidly growing team

  • Experience working within a start-up like environment with ability to test and learn with customers and within the market
