UX Designer

We provide a stylist assisted one-to-one shopping service based on your home, style, budget and your needs. Our vision is to apply data-driven design to help people surround themselves with the things that make them happy.

Spruce Up is a well funded startup backed by premier VCs in NYC, Silicon Valley and Seattle and rapidly growing our early start-up team. The UX Designer owns the design of a new end-to-end shopping experience that is customer and needs based and personalized to each home. It starts from building a simple, but stunning AI and designer powered shopping flow for our customers, and builds on easy-to-use stylist tools that leverage state-of-the art search, personalization and recommendation technologies and workflow optimization.

This is a role for a UX Designer who craves entrepreneurial ownership and a fast-paced dynamic environment to operate in. You are fluent in designing multi-channel user interfaces that are simple and engaging. You have a strong UX background and have the ability to create experiences that not only feel good, but also look good. You can handle projects from concept to shipping and iteration with little direction. You have a mastery of fundamental visual and interactive design disciplines and principals and have an exceptional eye for detail. Successful candidates will:

  • Own and execute Spruce Up end to end UEX experience on web and mobile and creating and maintaining brand style guide

  • Create quick prototypes and highly detailed wireframes for complex user flows in web applications

  • Be the customer advocate in creating highly engaging customer experiences and conducting ongoing customer research

  • Work cross functionally in validating feature prioritization based on data and customer feedback

  • Work with marketing teams to create and execute visual designs for marketing campaigns, emails and landing pages

Experience

  • An available portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking and creative problem solving.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar UX-related role for the web.

  • Fluency in best practices for interaction design, user-centered design process, as well as strong knowledge of user experience principles and techniques.

  • Fluency with user interface patterns for desktop and mobile experiences.

  • Experience working with software developers in an Agile/Scrum environment.

  • Demonstrated history of acquiring user data (e.g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) is a big plus.

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to be self-directed when needed.

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present a strong rationale for design decisions.

  • A bachelor's education in Graphic Design and Interaction/UX Design.

  • Bonus: Interest or background in interior design
